TAG Coordinator [ TAGc ] Tejas Project

Tejas is a three-year partnership project between the Government of Maharashtra, Tata Trusts and the British Council to improve the quality of students’ learning of English in Primary Schools. This will be achieved by building the capacity of government agencies including the Regional Academic Authority (RAA), enabling them to support and manage future large-scale teacher development programmes, and through the development of a cadre of Teacher Activity Group Coordinators to support teachers at the cluster level through Teacher Activity Groups (TAGs). These Teacher Activity Groups will take place across Maharashtra and English Subject Assistants (ESA) will work from their respective DIECPDs on this project.

The Role Of TAG Coordinator 

As a TAG Coordinator, you will support primary teachers in their local areas by helping to establish and facilitate Teacher Activity Groups (TAGs) at the cluster level using materials that have been developed by the British Council. TAGs are semi-formal structured meetings for teachers where they can practice English, discuss their teaching practice, share and learn new teaching ideas, and make action plans to support their professional development.

TAG Coordinator will be trained for 8 days in Year 1 by the British Council. You will then facilitate TAGs in your local areas. In Year 2 you will receive a further 8 days training from the British Council in order to develop and strengthen your skills in mentoring teachers at the cluster level.

•    Participate in an online course provided by the British Council

•    Get involved in teacher training

•    Contribute to building the quality of English teaching in your district

What does a TAG Coordinator have to do?

The programme aims to familiarise Primary School Teachers with learner-centred classroom approaches, improve their confidence in using English and offer increased opportunities for Continuing Professional Development     [ CPD ]. 

TAG Coordinator will be responsible for:

•    Setting up, facilitating and supporting Teacher Activity Groups at the cluster level with the help of Cluster Heads/Kendra Pramukhs

•    Setting up and facilitating discussions in WhatsApp groups for teachers at the cluster level

•    Supporting and mentoring teachers in their local clusters
